• Don't Try Too Hard (even if you really do)  For that effortlessly-cool look, your home doesn't have to be perfect (phew!). Have an element of undone-ness like a painting leaning on a wall instead of hung, or a quirky knick knack in an unexpected place, will give each room a sense of relief.
   
• Mix, Mix, Mix!  Don't rely on just one style of décor. Mix different time periods, old and new, to create a more dynamic and interesting space. And don't be afraid to break the rules. Yes, you can put pink with red, or navy with black and all your dining room chairs don't have to match.
   
• Keep It Interesting  Like the classic french girl who doesn't wear tons of makeup, except for a stunning red lip, take the same approach with your home. Lots of neutrals are fine, but add in one thing large, unexpected or dramatic to give your eye a focal point and your brain some visual interest. Show off your personality in your space by adding personal mementos, favorite books or flea market treasures to keep your home feeling like YOURS and not like it came straight out of a catalog.
