Vivian Maier

A long time ago I watched the documentary Finding Vivian Maier. If you aren’t familiar, Maier (1926-2009) was a photographer from Chicago whose work wasn’t discovered until after her death. Her mother was French and she spent part of her childhood in France. She worked as a nanny for forty years, once even working briefly as a housekeeper for Phil Donahue. She didn’t show her pictures to anyone, collecting 200 boxes of negatives and photographs over her life. Shortly before her death, they were purchased at auction because she failed to pay for her storage unit. You can see more of her work and learn more about Maier here.
